With the dangers of the damaging rays of the sun, schools have to provide areas of shade for children to be outdoors in sunny weather. This has led to a lot of schools investing in Sun Awnings as they are the ideal solution that can be extended as and when needed and are safely and securely retracted when not in use.
This was an infant school in Derbyshire. We installed four Sun Awnings at this school at varying sizes to fit with the school’s requirements. All of the Sun Awnings were electrically operated using a remote control. In addition to the the Sun Awnings had sun and wind sensors to automate their operate if desired and to protect the Awnings if the wind picked up.
The above image is of two Sun Awnings mounted side by side. Due to the sheer size of the Awnings and the lack of wall to fit to, we installed these on a framework. Here we sink posts into the ground and join them with a cross bar. This allows the Sun Awnings to remain independent from the building.
Not only will these Awnings provide a large shaded area for the school children to remain protected whilst outdoors, the class rooms will remain cool and shaded as well.
We use the highest quality fabrics available which block out almost all of the suns UV rays. The fabrics utilise a self cleaning technology so they remain looking vibrant and bright for many years.
Once the Awnings are no longer in use they retract back into a full cassette. This protects them from the weather and prevents damage. At the press of a button the Awning extends ready for use once again.
